Getting Around

From Fiumicino (FCO), follow signs to the official white taxi stand. Ignore anyone inside the terminal offering a ride. The fare is fixed at €55 including luggage. Confirm this with the driver by asking "Tariffa fissa?" before departing.
For a "Smart" alternative, take the FL1 Regional Train to Stazione Trastevere (€8) then Tram 8 to Arenula/Cairoli, which avoids the chaos of Termini.
Uber Black is highly active and reliable in central Rome. For a traditional taxi, the stand at Largo di Torre Argentina is just a 5-minute walk away.
Why is Rione Regola called "Regola"?
The name comes from Arenula (little sand). Before the Tiber's high walls were built, the river would deposit fine silt here during floods, defining the ground you're walking on today.
